Which could mean only ONE thing...work is slow today. Now I get to play catch-up. So I have a dress and a place for a ceremony. Now, if only a place to partay afterwards! We did check out some lovely places and had only a few requirements. First, the price per person had to be very reasonable. We are helping to pay for the wedding along with our parents and had promised ourselves that we weren't going to go into major debt over this soiree. We've watched too many of our friends work themselves to the bone and go into debt over thier own weddings. Secondly, we'd like to have our wedding outdoors provided the weather is nice. So that means our venue must have an alternate option for us just in case it rains. I'm not really one for having my guests sitting at thier tables while we get married in front of them. To me...not an option. So, without further ado here are the places we visited.
La Renaissance Banquet Facility
The interior is beautiful and the grounds are beautiful. Major drawback here is it's right next to the highway. All you can hear is the roar of cars and trucks. They strongly encourage couples to get married in thier well-manicured gardens. If it rains, it's one of those sit at the table and watch affairs.
The Adams Mill
The Picture says it all. Another one of those sit at your table weddings. The room was quite large though. Not much to say for the manager who brought us into the room and says "Well, this is it." Don't try to sell me on the room or anything lady. So needless to say, this wasn't going to be it either.
Mill on The River
I just have to say that this a fabulous little place. The manager, Amanda, was a lovely woman to talk to and she was able to fill us in on so much and give us ideas. There happened to be a wedding taking place the evening we went so we got to see the room set up. Only problem, the room was going to be too small for the 150 people we wanted to invite. We ended up going down into the bar and having dinner before we left. We got to witness the wedding take place out of the back window. What a gorgeous view. Too bad we would be able to use this venue. But I have to say that I would highly recommend it to someone who is planning to invite less than 125 people!
and then came the idea of using a country club. So we ran down the list of local ones that we thought might be worth it. I looked into Manchester Country Club, Glastonbury Hills Country Club, Tumble Brook Country Club, Grassmere Country Club and then I found Tower Ridge Country Club.
I think we found our winner!
